Rancho Cucamonga Mayor L. Dennis Michael Endorses Janice Rutherford
March 8, 2018
FONTANA – L. Dennis Michael, Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga, has announced his endorsement of Janice Rutherford in her campaign for re-election to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
When asked about his endorsement, Mayor Michael said, “Supervisor Rutherford has been a strong advocate for Rancho Cucamonga. She continues to help us improve transportation in the city and supports our police department’s work to keep us safe.”
Supervisor Rutherford’s decades-long career in community service begins with her active volunteerism after she completed graduate school. She got her start in local government on the Fontana Parks and Recreation Commission, and was soon appointed Chair of the Fontana Planning Commission.
In 2000, Rutherford was elected to the Fontana City Council, where she would go on to serve for 10 years. While sitting on the City Council, Rutherford created the Fontana Community Assistance Program, and continued her community involvement with organizations such as the Chaffey College Foundation Board and the local Rotary Club. After her tenure with the City of Fontana ended in 2010, Rutherford was elected to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, and won her first re-election bid in 2014. Supervisor Rutherford sits on several key committees for the County, administering its public health, transportation, environment, and more.
Rutherford represents the Second District of San Bernardino County, which includes Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland, and the Rim of the World communities. She lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her husband Steve Lim and their two sons, Ethan and Noah.
