Longtime Mayor and Local Leader Ronald Loveridge Endorses Janice Rutherford

RANCHO CUCAMONGA– In her bid for re-election to the Board of Supervisors, Janice Rutherford has received the endorsement of former Riverside Mayor and longtime college professor Ron Loveridge.
Loveridge started his career on the Riverside City Council in 1979. He was elected Mayor in 1994 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2012. He served as president of the National League of in 2010.
Rutherford and Loveridge served together on the California League of Cities Board of Directors while she was on the Fontana City Council in the 2000s. As a member of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, Rutherford has worked with Loveridge on air quality, housing affordability and regional economic development.
When announcing his endorsement of Supervisor Rutherford, Loveridge said:
I have long participated in and studied the politics of the Inland Empire. Without question, Janice Rutherford would rank among the very best supervisors over the past 50 years.
As Supervisor, Janice Rutherford has not only worked hard. She has been remarkably successful, both in terms of good policy and effective representation. By any measure, Rutherford’s many accomplishments have met the highest expectations of her District.
When I look for responsive leadership, Janice Rutherford stands out in the Inland Empire. She makes good things happen. She does so with attention to others, exceptional skills, and a resilient intelligence not often found among elected officials.
As a long time UCR professor, I would give the highest grades to Janice Rutherford record as Supervisor. She demonstrates remarkable curiosity, striking intelligence, and notable empathy and respect for the many groups and residents in her District.
By any important measure, Rutherford has made major differences in the life and times of San Bernardino County.

While on the Fontana City Council, Rutherford created the Fontana Community Assistance Program to connect those in need with local charities. Since her election to the Board of Supervisors, Janice has had an impact on the county from her role on the South Coast Air Quality Management District, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, and Inland Empire Economic Partnership.
Rutherford represents the Second District of San Bernardino County, which includes Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland, and the Rim of the World communities. She lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her husband Steve Lim and their two sons, Ethan and Noah.
