April 9, 2018
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA– Acquanetta Warren, Mayor of Fontana, announced today her decision to support Janice Rutherford in Rutherford’s campaign to be re-elected to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
When asked about her endorsement, Mayor Warren said, “I support Janice Rutherford because she has shown competent, evenhanded leadership that is mindful of today’s enormous economic and social challenges.”
Janice Rutherford’s service to Fontana began with her volunteer work after she completed graduate school. Her involvement with her church, as well as several organizations such as the local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the Boys and Girls Club led to a position with the Fontana Parks and Recreation Commission, and then an appointment as Chair of the Fontana Planning Commission.
In 2000, Rutherford was elected to the Fontana City Council. She served on the Council for 10 years, before her election to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. One of her noteworthy accomplishments on the City Council is her establishment of the Fontana Community Assistance Program, which has for years helped provide essential resources to Fontana residents.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from U.C. Riverside and a Master’s Degree in American Politics from Claremont Graduate University. Rutherford’s service to her community has gained her numerous honors, including recognition by the California State Assembly, the West End YWCA, the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council, the Chaffey College Alumni Foundation, and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Rutherford represents the Second District of San Bernardino County, which includes Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland, and the Rim of the World communities. She lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her husband Steve Lim and their two sons, Ethan and Noah.
