RANCHO CUCAMONGA – William J. Alexander, City Council Member from Rancho Cucamonga, announced today his endorsement of Janice Rutherford in her campaign for re-election to the San Bernardino Board of Supervisors.
When asked about his endorsement, Alexander said, “I’ve been friends with Janice for many years. She always listens to people’s concerns and ideas, and her care for our seniors and their well-being has been important to me.”
Janice Rutherford has spent over two decades working in local government and politics. She began her career with the City of Fontana’s Parks and Recreation Commission, which soon led to an appointment as Chair of the City’s Planning Commission. In 2000, Rutherford was elected to the Fontana City Council, where she served until 2010. Following her career with the City of Fontana, Rutherford was elected to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, where she has served for the past eight years. Rutherford’s 18 years as a local public official have resulted in effective reform in transportation, education, and public safety in the community.
Supervisor Rutherford holds a Bachelor’s Degree from U.C. Riverside and a Master’s Degree in American Politics from Claremont Graduate University. Her dedication to the local community has earned her several honors: she has been named California State Assembly District 63’s Woman of the Year, A Woman of Distinction by the West End YWCA, and Alumni of the Year by Chaffey College, in addition to being honored by the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Rutherford represents the Second District of San Bernardino County, which includes Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Upland, and the Rim of the World communities. She lives in Rancho Cucamonga with her husband Steve Lim and their two sons, Ethan and Noah.
